Identity design is the act of diplomatically negotiating personal egos, tastes, and aspirations of various invested individuals against their business needs, their pre-formed expectations, and the constraints of the market place. Making something beautiful, while desirable, is a more private part of the process, something that the designer needs to achieve incidentally, not something that can appear to be an overt motivating cause. (This is because form is subjective, and not an easily argued position when a designer is trying to get their client to feel comfortable assuming a new identity.)

I still remember the times I would ride my bicycle to the train station or back home from the station. Once, I collided with another cyclist and flew onto the grass patch nearby. Another time, my bicycle got stolen. Sometimes cycling in the scorching hot sun, other times holding an umbrella in one hand while cycling in the pouring rain (not a drizzle mind you). Fun times.

Gosh!

I CAN actually finally write here.
For the past weeks or so, I havent been able to blog because everytime I try to access the blogspot dashboard, my firefox freaking crashes on me!!

Its been very long since I actually wrote a proper blogpost.
This is probably not a very good one to break the drought.
More of updates than anything. Whatever. haha

It is March 23rd today. 9 more weeks before the ferret returns.
4 weeks before I travel to Melbourne.
15 weeks (zomg) before the graduation event.

Lotsa things have been happening recently,
and I am not too sure if there is time to blog about everything.
But one thing I can say for sure is, I need to manage my time alot better.
I know I know.. I've been saying that for eons,
But this time, I really NEED to.
I've got 2 projects on hand that need to be completed before the Melbourne trip..
and that hugeass event coming up in July.
The event's ihavedesignsonyou. Just in case you want to know.

Otherwise, I think I'm doing good.
Slightly bummed out.. probably have days that I just wana stay home..
A little heavy hearted..
but I'm still good.

Everyone around me has been working really hard lately

Awesome voice here. You must check this one out if you haven't already.
'I never' is especially appealing if you enjoy jazzy numbers.
I've been playing this non-stop for awhile now.

Wilco – Sky blue sky
Melancholic and moody, not something to listen to if you're feeling down.
But just listen to it anyway, it is beautiful. haha.
I especially enjoy the last track. Definitely be looking out for their next album
Jeff Tweedy is the man.

3)

DJ Kawasaki – Beautiful
I hardly listen to house music.
But this one totally rocks. Slightly jazzy, I can listen to this all damn day.
What else can I say.. ah. very chill lar~

Foo Fighters - The colour and the shape
Its Foo Fighters. Whats there not to like.
This is probably my favourite album.

Jadon Lavik - Roots run deep, a collection of hymns
Jadon sings these hymns so beautifully..
I especially like how Amazing Grace was done.
Hymns with a modern touch. If it is your thing.

I could make it top 10. But I'll leave it as 5 for now :)

It's been 3 weeks since I returned from that 2 weeks of pure fun and joy.
3 weeks and 5 days to be exact. I could definitely be more exact but it'll only make me more depressed.

Since then, I've been busy with school assignments, church commitments and work. The usual.

First of all, to answer the questions on everyone's minds, if I haven't already answered:

Yes, 2010 will be realistic

As of now, no concrete plans about the wedding yet as we're both still studying.
But once we both graduate in mid 2009, ho ho, we will plan plan away!

I think I've talked about the proposal to more than 10 people.

Really glad to be sharing this joy with you lot..
Do continue to pray for Tim and I as it is tough being apart (6 more months :/) and it will be even tougher when we finally do get married.

So, my first attempt at making my book cover didn't really go quite well.

The measurements were wrong..
I used double sided tape instead of white glue. Hence, the paper didn't quite stick to the grey board (for the hard cover) properly..
Wrong type of paper was used.. so the ink came out when the paper was creased.
I also didn't cut the board properly, and my cover came out a little crooked.

OH MAN.
this is so tough.
especially with deadlines coming down on me

Anyway, school has been interesting so far.
We're studying art history at the moment,
and our lecturer is this elderly lady who can get pretty emotional sometimes. haha

While talking about the different art movements,
she'll also inject a few of her own views.
Very often she'll compared it to her own beliefs about religion..
because we all know how art and religion can be so closely knitted sometimes
like:
'I'm not christian, so I don't think this should be done..'
'I don't believe in Jesus..'

This is probably the first time I've ever heard someone say that so forthrightly.
So I didn't quite know how to react to it.
I guess the only thing I can do is to pray for her.

Anyway, right now I've segmented the 10 months ahead of me.

with all these different segments,

No food for a month--not even a crumb? Roaches can go without eating for a month but will only live a week without water.

It's hard to sneak up on a roach. They have one great big nerve connecting their tails to their heads, alerting them to danger from behind.

Love

it's 4.30am and i'm thinking about the issue of love.
which was probably triggered when i read mamak.

i was 17 or 18 when a friend asked me what i think love means..
so i gave the usual answer.. that love is romantic, or platonic or family.
i think i gave a huge load of theories about love or something
and my friend just replied, love is God.

honestly, back then, when i still wasn't a christian,
though i feebly mumbled my agreement, just to get my friend's approval,
i thought he didn't know better at all.

"Love is not just a subjective feeling.
Love is God sending his Son to die,
so that we might live, so that we might
know God, and so that we might love.
This perhaps is the greatest love story ever told."

now at 24, i'm thankful for being constantly reminded of His love.
especially moments like this, when i'm reminded of my old self..

this friend and i aren't really talking much at all now.
but if i do see him one day, i'll thank him for being one of the first few
to introduce me this love story.
