China power

I was watching reruns of the opening ceremony of the olympics
and boy was i impressed!
The group performance was sooo synchronised..
so much so that it gave me goosebumps!
and trust me. it's not easy at all!
I don't even think the royal ballet's corp de ballet can compare to them!

Some brilliant photos from boston.com shown above..

Raccoon encounters

roaches facts

  • Roaches wear their skeletons on the outside of their bodies.
  • What if you skinned your knee and white blood came out? If you're a cockroach, no big deal. Cockroaches bleed white blood.
  • Roach mouths work sideways.
  • The world's largest roach lives in South America.
  • Some roaches are tiny and live in ant nests.
  • Tropical cockroaches are often brightly colored green, yellow, red.
  • If you were to collect one of every species of cockroach found in the world, you'd need a lot of jars to put them in. There are some 5,000 species of cockroaches worldwide.
  • Most species of cockroaches live in the tropics.
  • Cockroaches have six hairy legs. The tiny hairs found on each leg give them their sense of touch.
  • Cockroaches have 6 legs and least 18 knees!!!
  • The world's largest roach is six inches long with a one-foot wingspan.
  • Cockroach kidneys look like a bunch of writhing snakes.
  • Pregnant for life? It doesn't sound like much fun, but some female cockroaches mate once and are pregnant for the rest of their lives.
  • Roaches live all over the world, including the North and South Poles. In extremely cold places, however, they survive by moving in with humans.
  • No food for a month--not even a crumb? Roaches can go without eating for a month but will only live a week without water.
  • It's hard to sneak up on a roach. They have one great big nerve connecting their tails to their heads, alerting them to danger from behind.

you can read other facts here.
but i just had to post this up cos just reading this makes me squirm

Love

it's 4.30am and i'm thinking about the issue of love.
which was probably triggered when i read mamak.

i was 17 or 18 when a friend asked me what i think love means..
so i gave the usual answer.. that love is romantic, or platonic or family.
i think i gave a huge load of theories about love or something
and my friend just replied, love is God.

honestly, back then, when i still wasn't a christian,
though i feebly mumbled my agreement, just to get my friend's approval,
i thought he didn't know better at all.

"Love is not just a subjective feeling.
Love is God sending his Son to die,
so that we might live, so that we might
know God, and so that we might love.
This perhaps is the greatest love story ever told."

now at 24, i'm thankful for being constantly reminded of His love.
especially moments like this, when i'm reminded of my old self..

this friend and i aren't really talking much at all now.
but if i do see him one day, i'll thank him for being one of the first few
to introduce me this love story.

i have no idea how being a chij girl feels like. though i have many friends who are.

so when i was asked to do up a booklet for e chij awards, i had no clue how to really go about it.

6th day of CNY

happy chinese new year people!

this is kinda late.. but those who know me will know that its better late than never. heh
plus its not the end of cny yet! hah

this cny was pretty fun because i actually managed to spend all 4 days with my family. which is awesome. we were playing blackjack non stop just cause it was fun. screaming, shouting and laughing non-stop i tell you.

and after a good 8day break off work, i'll be going back tomorrow. urgh.
i'm looking forward to applying for school. will need to call up my poly for the transcripts because i seriously cant remember getting them at all.

tim is also applying for his scholarship to the Buffalo this week. i hope it goes well for him. seeing him getting all stressed up makes me feel :S and i cant really do much except to cheer him up every now and then

i should get sleeping soon because i'm hella tired. but if i do... it just means that the next time i open my eyes.. i'll hafta get back to work. urgghh.. i'm so dreading the thought of going back. please come soon July! so i can go back to school!

if you don't know by now, i was promoted 2 weeks ago.
unlike the first promotion i had, this wasn't as exciting.
yes, no doubt i'm grateful for that increment.. but i also knew what i was headed for.
and i was right.

since the promotion, i haven't been home before 1am.
even then, when i get home, my mind cant get to rest until 5am.
sigh.
busy months ahead, february, march and most certainly april and may.

that aside, i'm pretty psyched up for school.
applications start in february! oh man oh man
but the new semester only starts in july.. which is good. so i have more time to save up ka-ching! and not be bounded to a huge loan.

money is such a big issue all the time. :/

On my very first week on this current job of mine, a colleague said to me, after 3 years you'll definitely put on some weight.

And its true! I have put on quite some weight!

Thanks to the countless suppers and all that sitting down.

Now its 4.30am and very hungry...
It doesn't help that I'm looking at a food blog. GAH

Just so you'll feel hungry with me.. ha
